Good morning! I’m feeling a bit more energetic today. I slept fairly well last night, even without having my husband here. 🙂 My first juice this morning was what I call “The KC” – 1 cup torn kale leaves (stems removed), 1/2 cucumber, 1 celery stalk, and 2 carrots, diluted with 1/2 cup water. Not the tastiest juice I’ve ever had, but it’s nice to have something besides water!
I am praying for those of you who are fasting right now. Remember, the Lord is with you. He is your Strength! May you be blessed by today’s devotion.
“There is no one holy like the LORD; there is no one besides you; there is no Rock like our God.”
– 1 Samuel 2:2
Somehow the phrase, “Holy cow!” found its way into my vocabulary. The other day, the Lord convicted me of using these two words together. I explained to the girls why it’s not right to use the word holy in that context and told them I was going to stop. It wasn’t long, though, before I slipped up. When I did, Jocelyn, my five-year-old, quickly caught my blunder. She looked at me, wide-eyed, and said, “Mommy!” I immediately admitted my mistake.
You might think that I’m going a little overboard with this one. After all, holy cow isn’t the worst expression one could use, right? However, consider what the word implies. To be holy means “to be separated or set apart.” It describes something “belonging to or associated with a divine power.” Holiness is a trait that is characteristic of the Lord God. He alone is holy. A cow certainly is not.
Throughout the Bible, God is referred to as the Holy One. That’s because He is unlike anyone or anything else. No one compares to Him. Therefore, we must be careful to honor and revere the Lord in all that we say and do. Our words should reflect His glory. We must remember whom we are serving. The Lord God is mighty, all-powerful, and all-knowing. He is our Rock, our Fortress, and our Salvation. He is perfect, unchangeable, and eternal. He is loving, forgiving, merciful, and just. Let’s give Him the praise and adoration that He is worthy of receiving. Praise His holy name!
I’ve had a great day! The girls and I went on a picnic and hike at a local park with my aunt and uncle. It was absolutely gorgeous, and I loved being out in the warm sunshine after being cooped up for days. For the picnic, I just made my juice ahead of time and put in a Thermos. They thought I was having soup, so I didn’t even have to explain why I wasn’t eating. 🙂 Tonight I finally made juice with fruit….aaaah. What a difference. It’s like dessert. I juiced 1 apple, 1 orange, 1 celery stalk, and 1 cup kale leaves. Yummy. I’m full of joy today, and the only thing that would make it better if my husband were here! He’s been at a fishing tournament the past two days, but he will be home in a few hours. Have a wonderful rest of the weekend. Thanks for checking in with me!
