“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.” – Matthew 5:6
One of my favorite verses is Matthew 5:6, which says, “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.” God’s Word makes it clear that when we desire the Lord above anything else in our lives, we will find everything we need in Him.
Whatever it is that you are seeking from the Lord during your Daniel Fast, know that He is faithful to provide. Look back at the verse above. Matthew 5:6 doesn’t say you might be filled. It doesn’t imply that the Lord will consider filling you. It guarantees that you will be filled when you hunger for the Lord. But, filled with what? Why, love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control – that’s what! Filled with the power of the Holy Spirit! Filled up to all the measure of the fullness of God (Eph. 3:19)!
Let this promise encourage you when you grow weary and wonder if your fast is even effective. Your pursuit of the Lord is never in vain. My prayer for you today is that “You will know Christ’s love, which goes far beyond any knowledge. I am praying this so that you may be completely filled with God (Ephesians 3:19, GWT).”
