Only Three Things

“Love the Lord your God, listen to His voice, and hold fast to Him.” – Deuteronomy 30:20

Following Christ is simple, not at all as complicated as we make it out to be. Basically, only three things are needed: 1) to love God, 2) listen to His voice, and 3) hold fast to Him.

Love the Lord. The best way to fall in love with Jesus is to find delight in His Word. His precious promises are true, and they are written for you. You must have the attitude of the psalmist in Psalm 119:97, “Oh, how I love your law! I meditate on it all day long.”

Listen to His voice. The more you read the Bible, the easier it will be to recognize when God is speaking to you. John 10:27 says, “My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.” Can you hear what He is saying?

Hold fast to Him. Let nothing distract you from complete devotion to your Savior. “It is the LORD your God you must follow, and him you must revere. Keep his commands and obey him; serve him and hold fast to him (Deuteronomy 13:4).”

Deuteronomy 30 is packed with promises of what God will do for us if we love and obey Him. He is waiting to shower us with His goodness! However, receiving such abundant blessings requires that we choose Him above all else.

Today, make the commitment to follow the Lord wholeheartedly. Remember, only three things are needed.
