“Be at rest once more, O my soul, for the LORD has been good to you.” – Psalm 116:7
The last two mornings I have slept in. Instead of getting up at my normal time, which is around 5:00am, I’ve opened my eyes at about 6:30am. Maybe it’s because I haven’t been as cold at night or that my stomach is no longer empty. However, I believe it’s mostly due to the fact that I haven’t been anxious about anything when my head has hit the pillow. God’s peace has allowed me to rest.
God invites us to cast all of our cares upon Him because He loves us. When we try to carry the load on our own, we suffer the consequences both spiritually and physically. Our bodies simply cannot function at optimal levels when we’re bound up in anger, bitterness, worry, or fear. Often, we find ourselves unable to sleep at night because of it.
How are you sleeping? Are you able to shut off the events of the day when it’s time for bed? Or, do you have trouble letting go and trusting God?
The Lord wants to lift the weight from your shoulders. Let Him free you from the heaviness in your soul so that you can rest in His perfect peace.
