Say, "Yes."

Many people have graciously emailed testimonies about what God has done in their lives through the Daniel Fast. Thank you to everyone who has written. Now, it’s only fair that I share what God has done for me:

Last September, when our pastor invited us to participate in the Daniel Fast, I had no idea how the Lord would use those 21 days to change the course of my life. God had a whole storehouse of blessings just waiting for me, but first I had to say, “Yes.”

“Yes, Lord, I will enter into a time of prayer and fasting. Yes, Lord, I will deny myself foods that I enjoy as a sacrifice to you. Yes, Lord, I will wait for your perfect timing for the matters I am praying about. Yes, Lord, I will believe your Word, despite what my circumstances might be. Yes, Lord, I will trust you, even when I can’t see what’s ahead.”

Today I was thinking how different my life would be if I had said, “No,” to the Daniel Fast. I never would have started my blog. I never would have picked up my writing again. I never would have attended a Christian writer’s conference and met Les Stobbe (who is now my agent). I never would have gotten direction from the Lord on my cookbook. I never would have received a contract with a major publisher for my book on the Daniel Fast (to be released in January 2011).

Oh, the wonderful blessings I would have missed! I am so thankful that God, in His great mercy and love, implanted in my heart the desire to seek Him above all else. I have certainly experienced the promise in Matthew 5:6, which says, “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness for they will be filled.” I have been blessed beyond measure. My life is overflowing with good things from the Lord, and I am thankful for His faithfulness to me. Everything I’ve experienced with the blog and the book is because of Him and for Him. I want to be careful to give Him all the praise for what He has done.

The Daniel Fast is a unique opportunity for you to pursue the Lord with great passion. As you draw near to Him, He will show Himself to you and overwhelm your life with more blessings than you can even count. His Word is true – those who hunger and thirst for Him will be filled.
