Who am I, Lord?

Hello, friends! Since finishing up the Easter Daniel Fast and returning from my trip to El Salvador, I’ve taken a much-needed break from the computer. I’ve spent less time working on my laptop and more time doing other activities (like being outside, which I love!). I feel refreshed, rejuvenated, and ready to start writing again. I want to share with you what the Lord showed me this morning:

“Then King David went in and sat before the LORD, and he said: ‘Who am I, Sovereign LORD, and what is my family, that you have brought me this far?’ – 2 Samuel 7:18

When David was just a lowly shepherd, God chose Him. Verse 8 says, “I took you from the pasture and from following the flock to be ruler over my people Israel.” The Lord raised up a simple boy who tended sheep and made him into one of the greatest leaders of all time.

As King David reflected on God’s many kindnesses to him, he was overwhelmed with gratitude. David recognized that every opportunity, every blessing, every single thing he had was from hand of God. Instead of being puffed up by his many accomplishments, he praised the One who had showered him with favor. In verse 22, David declares, “How great you are, O Sovereign LORD! There is no one like you, and there is no God but you!”

As I read David’s words, I felt warm tears flow down my cheeks. I understood how David felt as he meditated on God’s goodness – completely humbled, extremely thankful, yet, oh, so unworthy.

Take a few moments right now to reflect on what God has done for you. Give thanks to your Father in Heaven for rescuing you from darkness and bringing you into His kingdom. Praise Him for how He has helped you over the years. Give him glory for the plans He is carrying out in your life right now!
