Fruit Pizza
This recipe is great for breakfast, snack, or dessert. It's one of my favorites!
Ingredients
Crust
- 1 ½ cups almond flour or meal
- ½ cup roughly chopped pitted dates
- ½ cup chopped pecans
- ¼ cup unsweetened apple juice
Fruit Sauce
- ¼ cup Date Honey
- ½ cup sliced strawberries
Topping Ideas
- Sliced apples, bananas, blueberries, grapes, kiwifruit, mangoes, oranges, peaches, pineapples, strawberries
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Place almond flour, dates, pecans and apple juice in a food processor. Process until mixture forms a ball.
- Press dough into 10-inch circle, about ¼-inch thick, on an 11 x 17-inch baking sheet or pizza pan (rub a little olive oil on your hands if dough gets too sticky; you can also place a sheet of parchment paper on top of the dough). With a fork, poke holes all across crust dough. Bake 10 minutes, or until edges are browned and slightly crispy. Remove from oven and let cool completely, about 45 minutes.
- Put Date Honey and strawberries in a food processor or blender. Process about 30 seconds or until smooth and creamy. Spread fruit sauce onto cooled crust. Top with your favorite assortment of sliced fruit. Refrigerate 3 hours or until chilled.
- Yield: 8 servings (serving size: 1 slice)
Notes
- Substitute oat flour for the almond flour.
Would it be ok to substitute with other unsweetened fruit juices?
Sure!
This is wonderful. Made it yesterday and put strawberries, pineapple, and blueberries on top. It was even better this morning after sitting in the refrigerator all night. Thank you for this great recipe!
You’re welcome! Fruit Pizza is one of my favorites!
Hi, this sounds great! Out of all the fruits you could put on top…which are your favorites? Looking forward to trying this for our bible study this week!
Oh, that’s a tough question! I like raspberries, strawberries, or blueberries. Sliced banana is nice, too! You really can’t go wrong with ANY fruit. Hope you like the recipe and that it’s a big hit at your Bible study!
can you have vegi burgers?
Hi, Brenda. Great question. It all depends upon the ingredients. Most likely, any veggie burger you buy in a store or restaurant will not be Daniel Fast friendly. You’ll probably have to make your own. Here are two recipes from my website to try: Chipotle Black Bean Burgers and Two-Bean Burgers.
I made this last night, and it turned out great! The crust is really good. I had to add more of the juice the dough as I had it going in the food processor to get it to form into a ball; it came out perfect. The date honey is amazing, so, of course, the date honey and strawberry sauce was delish. I recommend making sure all of your fruit is sweet, especially if you’re using this as a dessert. Perfect breakast! Thanks so much for this recipe; be blessed!
Yes, this is one of my favorite dishes to make. I’m not surprised at all that you liked it so much! 🙂
I didn’t think honey was allowed. Is date honey a different story? Where can I get it?
Date Honey is a recipe on my website. It’s made with dates and water. Just click on the underlined link, “Date Honey,” and you’ll see the recipe.
This recipe was a hit with my family! So that we could have it for breakfast on a school morning, we made it the night before and refrigerated it overnight; it worked out perfectly. And, just as a note for anyone else with almond allergies, we used cashew meal instead, and it worked!
I am going away for 10 days and are on a limited budget, can I bake these and eat them as a snack, without the topping? How long can they be kept?
Yes, as long as you keep it refrigerated. I’ve made this without the topping, and it’s really good. I’d say they would keep 7-10 days in the fridge without any problem.
Yeah, right? And a whole lot healthier. 🙂
Great tip — “using ground oats is a great substitute for flour”
Thanks!
