“Oh, that we might know the Lord! Let us press on to know him.” – Hosea 6:3 NLT
More than 5,100 people cried out to God during the “Press On” January 2014 Online Daniel Fast. Following are testimonies from believers who are pressing on to know the Lord. I pray you’re encouraged and filled with hope as you read about the great things God has done!
- “I love how this fast not only changed my eating habits but changed my desire to seek more of the Lord in my everyday activities.” – Jeneve
- “I’ve been unemployed since September. Although I’ve had temporary jobs, I didn’t work at all in December. I’ve been feeling pretty low and desperate. When I decided to do the Daniel Fast, I made employment my prayer focus. The day after my fast was over, I received a call from a job I interviewed for last month. They asked me to come in for round two of the interview process. The second day after my fast, my former employer called to let me know about an opening and gave me someone to contact. I emailed the contact, and he responded within fifteen minutes. He said the job was mine if I wanted it! I cried. Praise God! I feel like a weight has been lifted.” – Nichelle
- “I see the enemy in retreat! I see victory and restoration in my life! Praise the Lord!” – Wes
- About six months ago I registered for my first half marathon. Considering I’m not a runner, this was going to be a huge challenge for me. At the time, I didn’t realize the race would coincide with my fast. I started the fast on January 1st with concerns that I wouldn’t have the energy to complete the half marathon. I knew I wouldn’t be able to drink the Gatorade at the hydration stations or eat the energy gels since they contain sugar and caffeine. Initially, I planned to finish two weeks of the fast, and then pray about whether I should finish the last week. On day fourteen of the fast, I read the devotion in your book titled, “Run.” I realized God was saying He would give me strength to finish the fast AND the half marathon. It also reminded me that physical training is good but spiritual training is so much more important. I’m pleased to tell you that with God’s grace and power, I crossed the finish line of my first half marathon on January 19th after 2 hours,16 minutes, and 20 seconds! The most amazing part was that I felt great. I had a few bruised toenails, but absolutely no muscle pain or soreness. God is good! Thank you for the motivation and devotions that you provide.” – Julie
- “The biggest lesson I learned on the fast is that God is in control. All I have to do is trust in Him and praise Him.” – Rita
- “Our church corporately participated this year for the first time, and it’s amazing to see how God is working in our lives. We feel blessed by what you’ve shared with us – the recipes, the devotions in the book, and the encouragement of your daily emails. Personally, I had several things I was asking the Lord about during the fast. A few of those He answered almost immediately (including finding a lost wedding ring for a family member) and several of those issues He’s still working out in/through me. The results are all in His time for His glory!” – Tara
- “I reaped so many benefits from this fast, especially closeness to God. Bonds are being broken, and I’m in conversation and study daily with Him.” – Dave
Praise the Lord! I cannot wait to see how He continues to answer our prayers this year. All glory to His holy name!

Thank you so much for the daily focus on God, encouragement and recipes during the 2014 Daniel Fast. My daughter, her husband and 3 children (2,5,7 years old) along with me and my husband went on the journey together. We all live in the same household, which made it easier to support and encourage each other. But the true bonus in our house was my daughter cooking the delicious meals and then us eating them together. What a transformation! The “girls” all had a sugar addiction. We no longer crave sugar – in fact – don’t really want it. Our nutrition levels are probably off the charts now! Your direction helped us make this Daniel Fast extremely successful. We continue our journey to healthful living. To top it off – God did give me a word for 2014 – my word is TRANSFORM – and it all began with the Daniel Fast.
Praise God! I love your testimony! Thank you for sharing. I consider it a great honor and privilege to be able to do what I do. I’m thankful to the Lord and give Him all the glory! May the Lord continue to empower you and your family as you honor Him in all you do.
I am kind of a newbie at this, but I have fasted for 5 days. I have a daughter who is 16 and has anorexia and major depression. I am so worried about her. One of the triggers she told us about in family therapy is the constant dieting and negative self talking by myself and my husband. We are both overweight. I can tell you I have diabetes and high blood pressure, I must say I feel soooo good I cannot see myself returning to the “King’s Foods”! I really just consider this a healthy way to eat and not dieting, so when my daughter returns (she is a vegan) we can all eat the same healthy stuff. The time I am taking away to focus on myself and my relationship with our Lord is just a major bonus and I think part of the reason I feel so good after just a few days. Thanks for your help, I hope you feel appreciated!
Jane, thank you for writing to share how God is working! I’m thankful He is transforming the way you think about food. May the Lord continue to bless you as you hunger for Him!
I found your website after deciding to do the Daniel Fast with my mother’s church in Michigan. I live in Illinois. I knew I wouldn’t be able to attend their daily prayer services and wanted some daily support of my own as I joined them corporately. Your daily devotions, prayers and recipes were exactly what I needed, so I started each day with them. In the meantime, my church here in Illinois fasted corporately twice during the same time period for three days. So I had a whole lot going on. 😀 In the midst of it all, I fell off a couple of times…getting back up and getting back on, being lead to go in deeper in my re-commitment by adding to the fast. The prayer list I created for the fast continues. God’s already working in those areas, and others that aren’t even on the list.
I have a renewed since of total life commitment to God: soul, spirit, mind AND body. Prayer and devotion have always been a part of the start of my day. Now they’re incorporated throughout my day 🙂 I’m incorporating a lot of the eating habits I learned during the fast into my everyday meals. And working out (no gym rat here; just 30-45 minutes with some of my favorite DVDs) are again a regular part of my day.
God Bless you, Kristen!!!
Dana, praise God for all the wonderful ways He has been working in your life! You pressed on, girl! 🙂 I’m so encouraged by your testimony, and I thank God for using the emails and recipes to encourage you. May the Lord continue to pour out His favor on you as you serve Him!
I really enjoyed reading the devotionals. Everyday I faced new challenges and received a word that spoke to my situation.I fell off the fasting wagon and this time I didnt’t give up but added a day for every hour I gave in. So my fast lasted 25 days. I really wished the devotionals lasted for the entire year. As a School Counselor my world is filled with the concerns of others but this year I started praying with people. It was interesting because I’ve never been this kind of person. People were dropping by my office to leave prayer request, I sent your devotionals to people in need and really felt encouraged. Thank you creating this site. I needed something easy and to the point to read daily and the scruiptures are now on Post-Its covering my both of my offices. Looking forward to all the things God is going to do in 2014.
Ms. C
Praise the Lord! I’m so encouraged by your testimony. You were faithful to PRESS ON, despite “falling off the fasting wagon!” I’m so thankful for your determination and commitment to keep going and keep believing God. And, look how He has rewarded you – opportunities to share truth with your co-workers! That is wonderful! May the Lord continue to use you in a powerful way as you seek Him. Thank you for writing and for letting me be a part of what God is doing in your life. 🙂
I have seen God move in so many ways! He has set me free from my cravings of sweets & unhealthy fats. He is moving in my relationship with my son & daughter-in-law. I am seeing my prayers for my friends & family being answered. I know that God is going to move in a mighty way for our Country as we band together in prayer for a healing of our land!

By the way your recipes yum ,yum… Thank you and yours god bless.
Praise the Lord! I’m so thankful for all God has done in your life. STRENGTH is a great word for 2014. I love Nehemiah 8:10: “The joy of the Lord is your strength!”
I lost my husband May 7, 2012. I wanted or needed some answers. I started the fast with questions, God gave me a scripture: Psalm 116. I have read this Scripture on numerous occasions. This was an eye opener for me. I thank God every day. I am still praying for my sister, who has been waiting on a hearing date about her disability case. She called one week after I started the fast, and she has a hearing date. Thank you, God, for your guidance and direction. I love God so much. God bless you all on your fast.
Katie, thank you for sharing. I’m so sorry about the loss of your husband. God is faithful to come near when we need Him, isn’t He? I praise Him for how He has helped you and given you His healing words. May the Lord continue to strengthen and comfort you…and fill you with His joy. 🙂
Kristen, I want to thank you for your book and words of encouragements. I have completed the Daniel Fast in the past but not successfully. This time I was determined to go through with it. I thank you and may God continue to bless you and your family.
Praise the Lord! Katie, I’m glad you wrote to share how God helped you on this journey. He is faithful to help us when we trust Him. Thank you for your comments!
God has taken many cravings from me such as tea and sugar. I know this is the Lord!
Thank you for all the wonderful Daniel fast recipes. They really helped me stay on track. I used to eat a cheeseburger or hotdog each day. Now I don’t even miss them. I feel so much better since starting this fast. I’m planning to continue to limit my meat intake and improve my body and overall well being. Our bodies are a temple for the Holy Spirit to dwell. The Daniel Fast has helped me focus on God’s righteousness and His anointing. May our obedience be for His glory and not ours. Amen!
You are welcome! Thank you for sharing how God has been working in your life. May He continue to pour out His favor on you as you press on to know Him!
