Cinnamon Roasted Almonds
Almonds are naturally sweet, and when you add a little cinnamon AND roast them . . well, let's just say you definitely can't eat just one.
Ingredients
- 2 cups whole almonds
- 1/2 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 250 degrees. Line an 11 x 17-inch baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly rub with olive oil and set aside. You can also use a silicone mat.
- Put almonds in a large bowl, add olive oil and stir well. Sprinkle in cinnamon and salt and toss to coat. Spread almonds evenly on baking sheet. Bake 1 hour, stirring occasionally. Cool and serve or store in an airtight container.
- Yield: 8 servings (serving size: about ¼ cup)
Notes
- Add to Gimme More Granola.
- Use in Trail Mix.
- Chop almonds and sprinkle on Cinnamon Baked Apples.
Ok now I just feel like I’m post-happy, but these almonds are so good! This may seem like a silly question but I was wondering if you could follow the same steps with slivered almonds or is it better to have the covering of the whole almond on there for roasting?
Yes, you can roast slivered almonds, but they’ll require much less baking time. I’ve never done it, but I’d recommend putting them in 15-20 minutes at 250 degrees. You might even want to cook them a little longer. Just watch them closely so they don’t burn!
Is whey and soy protein allow in daniel fast when making the smoothie thanks
No dairy products are allowed, so whey is not a part of the fast. Soy products are acceptable, as long as they don’t contain any restricted foods. See my Food List for more information.
