I see a lot of apple juice, I thought it was strictly only water?
Hi, Jessica. Great question. Water is to be the main beverage on the Daniel Fast. However, you can use 100% unsweetened fruit juices in recipes.
While water is the main beverage on the fast, it’s acceptable to have 100% juice and to use juice in recipes.
Am writing from Malawi,I see u say honey is not allowed, but here we have natural honey, can I use this one,coz I can’t find the apple sauce here, most of our foods are organic
Hi! Thanks for your question. Honey (natural or otherwise) is considered an added sugar, so it’s not allowed on the Daniel Fast.
Can you use Coconut sugar as a replacement for “sugar”
Coconut is allowed on the fast. However, added sugar is not. So whether you include coconut sugar on the fast depends upon how you view it — as a fruit product or added sugar. It’s really a matter of personal conviction. Personally, I see it as an added sugar, so I don’t include coconut sugar or syrup in my recipes. If you’re not sure what to do, ask God to give you wisdom as to what YOUR fast should look like.
Do you have any special apple juice you use kristen
Hi, Linda! I like Martinelli’s Unfiltered Apple Juice and Simply Apple.
Can you use water instead of apple juice?
Sure. The flavor might not be quite as strong, but the dish will still be tasty! Thanks for your question.
Yes, you can.
where do u find unsweetened Apple juice? All I see is 100%apple juice or 40% less sugar than 100%apple juice or from concentrated .
Unsweetened means no added sugar. So, 100% apple juice should be acceptable. Check the label to be sure.
Hi I just had a quick question what is unsweetened apple juice I could never find it. I see 100% Apple juice with no artificial flavores added or 40% less sugar than 100% Apple juice . Could you help ?
Can we use agave nectar? A friend of mine is doing the Daniel Fast as well and said we could but I wasn’t sure. Day 10 of the Daniel Fast! I love it! Thank you!
No added sugars are allowed on the fast, including agave nectar, honey, molasses, etc. You may find some variation on this issue where some people choose to include it. Read my FAQ page for more explanation. Thank you for your question and encouragement!
Diabetes, 3rd stage kidney failure. Probably wheat belly. So what can I eat for the Daniel fast. ? Please, I yhink I need help and motivation.
Thank you. Pat
Pat, are you currently following a nutrition plan prescribed by a physician or dietician? If so, have you consulted with him or her about doing the Daniel Fast? It would be helpful to know what foods you’ve been told to avoid because of your condition.
Is stevia allowed on the Daniel fast? It is a natural plant.
I don’t include stevia in any of my recipes, but some people may choose to include it on their fast.
Can pure cane syrup and raw honey be used during a Daniel fast?
Unfortunately, no added sugar is allowed. But, here is a recipe for a natural “sweetener” for recipes! Date Honey: You’ll love it!
Date Honey is AWESOME!!!!!
I made it with half a vanilla bean pod. AMAZING!
Yum! Great idea!
Hi I am just curious if I can use unsweetened applesauce instead of juice? Will it turn out the same was? I couldn’t find unsweetened apple juice at the store? Thank you for all of the great recipes my husband and I are doing a Daniel fast for the first time and I was a little nervous about the food because my husband has a bean allergy.
I think the applesauce would be a nice substitution. I’m glad you and your husband are doing the fast together. Have you already started? If you don’t already have a copy of my book, The Ultimate Guide to the Daniel Fast, you should get it. 🙂 It would be a big help on your journey. May God bless you both as you hunger for Him!
