She was only 16. Pretty, outgoing, and full of hope for the future. Her plan was to attend college after graduation. Then she got pregnant. But despite the shame and fear she felt, a scared, young girl chose to let her baby live. And, I’m so thankful she did. Otherwise, I wouldn’t be here.
Since the Roe vs. Wade decision to legalize abortion in 1973, more than 57 million babies have been murdered. 57 million. That’s the equivalent of annihilating a whole country the size of Italy or France, all in the name of a woman’s “right to choose.” And Planned Parenthood is the primary organization that’s providing this barbaric procedure.
Currently, there are 820 Planned Parenthood clinics in the United States. One of them is less than a mile from my house. Ironically, it’s positioned between a Goodwill Store, where people drop off unwanted items, and Other Mothers, which carries second-hand maternity and children’s clothes.
Even though I drive past the clinic several times each week, I don’t like to think about what happens there. It sickens me to consider the atrocities occurring within those brick walls. But, I need to think about it. For far too long I haven’t.
But recent reports on Planned Parenthood’s activities have jolted me to action. I’m horrified by how they’re harvesting babies’ organs for financial gain! And I’m angry. Angry at Planned Parenthood for committing such evil. Angry at our country for letting it happen. Angry at myself for being apathetic and uninvolved.
America, it’s time to wake up! Our babies are being murdered. Living, breathing human beings are being destroyed because of pure selfishness and greed.
What Planned Parenthood is doing is wrong. They must be held accountable and punished for their crimes. If we allow them to continue their practices, we share in their guilt. By doing nothing, we condone their actions.
If you’re like me, you feel helpless. You want to change the situation but feel powerless. Let me remind you this is a spiritual battle. And, we must fight with spiritual weapons. We must pray.
Every time you see an article about Planned Parenthood online or when you drive past a clinic, take a few minutes to intercede. Pray for:
- Women who seek the services of Planned Parenthood – That they will understand the full impact of abortion – physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Pray they won’t be deceived and will choose life.
- Employees who work at Planned Parenthood – That they will be convinced that what they’re doing is evil and unethical. Pray they will quit their jobs.
- Our government – That they will see the truth of what is happening and withdraw all financial support from the organization.
- Believers – To take a stand for the unborn and to be faithful to pray regularly.
- Our nation – That that we will repent of this wickedness and turn to God.
I’m passionate about this issue because I could have been a statistic. After all, my life was unplanned. My conception wasn’t convenient. But, thankfully, I had two parents who wanted me. I had a mother who valued the growing baby inside her body.
A few days ago I made the five-minute walk to the Planned Parenthood clinic in my neighborhood. I sat down on the sidewalk in front of the building and bowed my head. At first, no words came. Only tears. I wept for the babies. For the hurting girls. For the deceived workers. For our nation’s sin. For my sin. “God, forgive us!” I cried.
Our country is making a grave mistake by not protecting our babies. God’s judgment is coming if we don’t repent. But the good news is, there’s hope. God promises to show mercy if we turn to Him.
“If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land” (2 Chron. 7:14).
Will you cry out to God for our little ones and the women who carry them? We can’t continue to be silent. Unborn babies are relying on our prayers!

Hi Kristen,
Thank you for sharing! Your words are powerful, passionate, and full of love. Yes, our Nation and every Christian needs to clue in and take this issue seriously. Any one can look up the practices and procedures of abortion. What they do is, in fact, horrifying. Anyone who can justify it needs to check their pulse to see if they are breathing. It’s disgusting!!! We must pray and intercede, big time. God bless you! Thank you as well for such a great website. Our church is doing the Daniel Fast again starting tomorrow so these recipes will be amazing. Shalom!!!
Linnea, thank you for your encouragement. I’m praying believers will engage in this spiritual battle for our children. I’m glad to hear your church is doing the Daniel Fast. We just completed a corporate fast at James River Church, and it was a powerful time of intercession. God has already answered many prayers! May the Lord pour out His favor on your church as you fast and pray! Be sure to let people know about two helpful resources–my book, The Ultimate Guide to the Daniel Fast, and my website.
Hope you don’t mind, I shared your article. This is the best one i’ve read. A difficult one, but, I agree, we need to pray like never before.
Barbara
Thank you, Barbara. No, I don’t mind at all. In fact, I WANT people to share this post. More awareness is what we need. More awareness and more prayer!
OH my friend, this is so dear to my heart. I’ve been praying. This is an absolutely horrible situation and my heart is breaking over this. I will be continuing to pray and following the lead of the Spirit for what I can do to make a difference even in the smallest of measure. Thank you for your boldness and your heart.
Thank you for your encouragement, and thank you for praying!
Excellent article Kristen! Thank you for sharing such a poignant perspective and challenging us out of our apathy!
Tamara, thanks for your feedback. I haven’t been able to stop thinking about what is happening in our country. I needed to write about it. I’m praying that Christians everywhere will be mobilized to intercede!
I was working on getting my mother’s perception the other day on how she would cope without me. You see, at 47 years old I have wanted to be gone from this earth for nearly 40 years of my life. I want to “check out” now. I have absolutely nothing. I have spent in my life $90,000 on education. I’m unmarried and live with my mother. My father killed himself, and outside of my mother, I am totally alone. I have never had a girlfriend. I do a job so menial at my work where they also hire mentally handicapped people to do it. I’m not able to even move into a 40/week job, let alone something better. I hate my life. I grew up in a Christian church, as a young disciple of Christ, for example, the youth leaders said, “If you are a disciple, destroy your rock music.” I destroyed the music. I tried to adhere to my faith while others were “doing their own thing and having a good time. God never blessed me. these other people have things a normal 40+ year old have. I dont, I hate my life and extricating myself is going to be so difficult. But if my mother would have been allowed an abortion I would not have to be here and I would not be miserable. Good for you that your so glad and happy to be here, not all of us are as lucky like you. You have no right to force others like me to live in the hellish, POS, world. You need to really remember that not everyone sees life as such a joy, and you really dont have a right to meddle in that, you and those like you 40-50 years ago have put me in this position where I probably wouldn’t have to be. To you I say “thanks” for the misery. I wish you the best, but you already appear to have it. think about that and all that you have and than imagine not having any of it.
First, I’m sorry for your pain. In no way do I want to minimize it. But you are NOT alone. You have a mother who loves you and a God who loves you. You are alive because He has a plan for your life: “For I know the plans I have for you,” says the LORD. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope” (Jer. 29:11 NLT). These are not just empty, spiritual words, either. They are TRUE. Second, perhaps you are so miserable because you have rejected God and haven’t allowed Him to love you and give your life purpose. And, finally, maybe your life has been hard and full of disappointments, BUT you have the opportunity to experience life on this earth. The 57 million+ babies were never given that chance. I pray that you will discover the lasting, fulfilling joy that only God can give.
I understand your point of view, but things were long miserable before I “rejected” god. That to me is the irony. My once close friend and roommate in college who is now a Baptist minister; often fornicated with a steady girlfriend and other women. One evening in 1988 before Thanksgiving he “stayed” with his girlfriend and subsequently that night with another woman who would become his current wife with seemingly no moral conviction. This person is happily married with a lucrative ministerial job. My reason for airing this unseemly, and dirty laundry is simply to ask; why would god choose him and the hundreds of others whom I have known over me? After i was about 25 I was able to see that god must have double standards or not exist. God had a chance in my initial 25 years of life; HE FAILED. Furthermore, “experiencing life on this earth” is not all that it is hyped to be, and those 57 million would probably have experienced miserable lives also. Hopefully my “experiences” will draw to a close soon as I get my affairs in order and leave “his creation” to the rest of you. But, I do appreciate your time.
I hear the pain and disappointment you feel about situations where you have observed others choices and you don’t understand how they have seemingly ended up better off than you, when you have tried to do Gods will. Each of us is on our own path and we realize our mistakes on different schedules and God reveals these thing to us in perfect time for our growth and to bring us closer to himself. We all sin and fall short. It is a process to surrender to Gods will for us. Please don’t give up. Try not to compare yourself or your life to others. You were beautifully made for your own path and give it another try. Put your trust in him and focus on the good things you can do for others. I have found that writing down something positive each day in a journal really helps to remember the joys he reveals each day when you focus on it. Pray again. Please. I will be praying for you. Your sister in Christ
Seek and you will find Him…. and the abundance that is in Him. More times than not it’s a soul searching moment. Set in your mind what you want and who you want to be. Then with scripture, God and all of the tools out there, set on your path to grow. Find your purpose brother. It’s an important element to you and those around you. Dream, set goals and believe that God is for you. Your enemy has lied to you and you have bought into it. You are important…..let God use you!
I want to take this time to tell you that God has a plan for your life! He reminds us this in Jeremiah 29:11. I am sorry that your life has been difficult , but call on Jesus and He will answer you. Lean on him daily and he will be there for you in good and bad times. Life is hard. When we choose idols over God it’s hard for him to bless us! My life has been tough, but God has never given me more than I could handle. He has always been right there with me. He loves you unconditionally. Lean on Him, pray to to Him, desire to be like Him. He will bless you.
I too fell for that whole hoax about getting rid of your rock music. Rock music is music like any other music. You can not let man dictate what you need to do, rather be led by the Spirit. If the spirit tells you not to listen to something, don’t. Be filled with the Holy Spirit, He will guide you. Unfortunately Preachers are human just like the rest of us. They have an agenda. They may be doing it for financial reasons. “Don’t let many of you be called teachers”. They will be judged. Some of them “lay burdens on men’s shoulders, and don’t lift a finger to help them”. I know what you are talking about. Christ came to give you life more abundantly. Be filled with the spirit. I have been lifted up at times while listening to Rock music, and filled with joy. I don’t believe that joy came from the Devil. We are saved by grace and not works. Remember this: God always finishes what He starts. That is why He is called the author and finisher of our faith. Philippians 1:6 says, “Being confident of this. He who began a good work in you will carry it to completion unto the day of Jesus Christ.” Work out your own salvation
PLEASE DONT HURT YOURSELF! I once felt like you. There IS hope! God does exist. first of all I know that many Christians dont believe in using anti depressants but they really helped me through a very difficult time in my life and some of my friends in their lives also. At the same time a good Counselor would help. You really can have a better life. Our lives are the result of our Choices . God is not up there making them for us but will lead us to the best choices in our lives if we will ask Him because He really is a LOVING GOD. The reason teachers and preachers get judged by higher measuring rod is because people look to them to represent Gods character to the rest of us sheep and if a Christian leader represents by example or teaching wrongly then people start thinking that God is legalistic and Judgemental. BTW just because someone is financially blessed doesn’t necessarily mean that God is pleased with them. Some of the major cults are Extremely Rich. But God blesses us with family , health, friends, homes to live in, food on our plate. Stop feeling sorry for yourself and start counting your blessings instead. if you find you really can’t do that then please Get professional help. It helped me when when I was do depressed. Please
