In three days, thousands of Americans will gather to watch the biggest sporting event of the year. That’s right, friends. It’s Super Bowl time!
Next to Thanksgiving, Super Bowl Sunday ranks as the #1 day for food consumption. The big game is as much about the snacks as it is about the sport. It’s pizza and hot wings. Chips and dip. Chex Mix and cookies. For someone on the Daniel Fast, though, this type of setting presents a huge challenge. If you can’t have meat, dairy products, sugar, or caffeine, what can you eat on Super Bowl Sunday? Plenty, if you refer to the tasty recipes on my website.
Following are the Ultimate Daniel Fast’s Top 10 Super Bowl Snacks:
1. Almond Butter Bites
2. Oatmeal Raisin Cookies
3. Salsa
4. Spinach-Artichoke Dip
5. Super Easy Guacamole
6. Fruit Pizza
7. Sweet & Spicy Mixed Nuts
8. Date Honey
9. Confetti Hummus
10. Grilled Veggie Kebabs
Which one (or two) will you take to your Super Bowl Party?
Kristen – Thank you so much for your efforts in maintaining this website! As I look more into the Daniel Fast, I’m finding some very ‘lenient’ meal plans which include: egg, chicken sausage, beef, tuna, salmon, bacon!
I actually found a great article by Sara Jo Poff:
http://healthyfamiliesforgod.com/2013/12/the-daniel-fast-where-it-goes-wrong-and-how-to-make-it-healthy/
/* a couple points that hit home */
– focus more on craving God than craving food
– instead of a 21-day journey it should be an all year lifestyle change.
Hi, Gary! Thanks for you comments. Yes, you’ll find quite a variation regarding what is allowed on the fast. The food list on my website is probably one of the stricter ones, but it’s also the standard. However, the whole purpose of the Daniel Fast is to sacrifice as an act of worship to the Lord. Also, I did browse the article you posted. Although I understand the writer’s point of view, I disagree with her perspective. Many people DO make lifestyle changes after being on the fast for three weeks. Not everyone goes back to stuffing themselves with junk and continuing their old habits. The Daniel Fast often results in a desire to make healthier choices. The wonderful thing about this fast is that it does change you physically and spiritually. I’ve received hundreds of testimonies that speak to that fact.
Thank you for all the great recipes posted on this site. They are all delicious and easy to prepare. I recommended your site to so many on my work and church colleagues. I lost over 15 lbs in the 3 weeks. I feel renewed in my faith and am walking closer with God. I don’t see myself going back to my old eating habits. I know I will definitely return to this fast when I need a closer connection to my father. I am still waiting on him for something/changes in my life so I will be starting a 21 day fast soon sgain. Blessings to you!
Hi, Elaine! Thank you so much for your comments. I’m so glad to hear your fast went well. I pray the Lord will continue to bless you efforts to get stronger physically and spiritually!
